Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions couples and families ask most.

Booking & Fees

How do I book you?

Start with a conversation. Reach out through the contact form, by phone or by email. If we’re a good fit, I’ll send a reservation agreement, and a deposit secures your date.

How much does a ceremony cost?

Ceremonies start from $395, and full wedding ceremonies from $595, including HST. Filing your licence by tracked courier is included. I’m happy to talk through the options and send a quote.

How do we pay?

Easily, by Interac e-Transfer. A $150 deposit secures your date, and the balance is due 30 days before your ceremony. If your ceremony is less than 30 days away when you book, payment in full secures your date.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel within 50 km of South Etobicoke is included. Beyond that, a modest travel fee applies, and I’ll include it in your quote.

Where do you officiate?

Toronto, the GTA and across Ontario. I don’t officiate weddings in Quebec, since Quebec has its own marriage laws. Outside my area? My officiant team at Loving Perspectives may be able to help.

Your Ceremony

Can our ceremony be in French, bilingual, or include another language?

Absolument! I officiate in English, in French or in a mix of both. I’ve even added a little Spanish when couples asked, so if you’d like a few words in another language for your family, we can make it happen. I’ll practise my pronunciation, I promise!

Do you officiate same-sex weddings?

Yes, joyfully. Every couple is welcome, and every ceremony is written around your love story.

We come from different faiths, or no faith. Can you help?

Yes. I create civil, spiritual, interfaith and non-religious ceremonies, and I’ll help you honour both families and traditions in a way that feels right for you.

Can we write our own vows?

Of course. Send them to me and I’ll print them on keepsake vow cards for you to read at the ceremony. I’m happy to offer tips if you’re not sure where to start.

Can we personalize the script?

Absolutely. I’ll send you a ceremony script with optional sections and guidance notes, and we’ll shape it together until it feels completely yours.

How long is a typical ceremony?

Most ceremonies last about 20 to 30 minutes, depending on readings, rituals and vows.

Do we need a rehearsal?

It’s optional, but helpful for larger wedding parties. Rehearsals are $175 and are scheduled closer to your date.

On the Day

What do you wear?

Usually a dark suit, but I’m happy to match your wedding’s style or colours. I’ve officiated as a referee at a hockey-themed wedding and as a robed monk at a Game of Thrones–themed ceremony. You provide it, I’ll wear it!

When do you arrive?

I arrive about 30 minutes early to meet your coordinator, check sound and get everything ready.

What if we’re running late?

Life happens! I always allow a little breathing room, and I’ll work with your planner or venue to keep everything calm and on track. Timing details are in your reservation agreement.

What happens if you’re ill?

In 18 years I’ve only needed a back-up once. If it ever happens, I’ll arrange a qualified back-up officiant. If that’s not possible, all fees are refunded.

Other Services

Do you officiate celebrations of life and funerals?

Yes. I create warm, personal ceremonies that honour a life well lived, whether at a funeral home, a place of worship, a family home or outdoors. I’ll gently guide you through gathering the stories, music and moments that reflect your loved one.

Do you offer naming or welcoming ceremonies?

Yes. These joyful ceremonies welcome a new child or family member, and can be spiritual or secular, with roles for family, godparents or mentors.

Do you perform vow renewals?

Absolutely. Whether it’s a milestone anniversary or a fresh start, we’ll create a ceremony that celebrates your journey together.

What is coaching and pastoral care?

Supportive conversations for life’s big moments: pre-marriage and couples coaching, life transitions, grief support, and spiritual care for any faith or none. Sessions are in person in Toronto or online, in English or French. Coaching and pastoral care aren’t a substitute for professional counselling or therapy. Learn more

Can you MC our reception or speak at our event?

Yes. I MC receptions, host events and speak to groups. It’s a natural fit if I’m already officiating your ceremony. Speaking & MC

Do you work with wedding planners and venues?

Always. I love collaborating with fellow wedding professionals. Planners and vendors can find more on the Planners & Vendors page.
